9TH JUNE
John 16:7-11
“Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.”
When you live as a witness, convincing people to trust in Jesus is not up to you!
As a witness, you will love the people around you. You will invest in your relationships with unchurched people you encounter. You will look for opportunities to speak about life issues on the deeper level. You’ll share with them about your relationship with God. You’ll weave the gospel into your conversations. But none of those things will bring a person to salvation. What you do is not the most important factor. What the Spirit does is the key!
The Holy Spirit takes your words and actions and fills them with his spiritual power that penetrates into a person’s heart and mind, convicting and convincing.
You must cultivate the awareness of the Spirit’s presence with you as you interact with those who need Christ. Even as you talk and relate to them, be in prayer, asking for insight and for the Spirit’s anointing on your words and actions. There’s power in that way of living!
MAKE IT PERSONAL:
Why do you think it is important for you to be filled with the Holy Spirit? Do you think it’s possible to be a good witness without the power of the Holy Spirit?
