Galatians 2:20
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Christ lives in you!
Notice the past tense and the present tense in this verse. Past tense: “I have been crucified with Christ.” There is something that happened in the past but has impact up till now. That past event? When Jesus died on the cross, I died with him. God has judged my life and found me guilty of sin. He has also passed sentence—death. And he has already carried out that sentence—I was crucified with Jesus. What freedom that truth gives me! Do I need to worry that another sin in my life might separate me from God? How would he judge me? He has already put me to death with Christ.
That leads us straight to the present tense in this verse: “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” Just as beautiful as my connection with Christ in his death is Christ’s connection with me in life! He wants to keep on living in this world with the same purpose he had as he walked through Galilee. He does just that … through you and me!
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Think about the people you will encounter today. Jesus wants to minister to them through you. He wants to love them, help them, serve them, speak to them, through you. How can you allow Christ to live in and through you today?
