7TH FEBRUARY
2 Peter 3:9
“The Lord is not slow to fulfil his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
God cares about the future of unbelievers. He doesn’t want anyone to perish!
The team at Hillsong wrote a song that expresses a beautiful prayer:
“Heal my heart and make it clean/ Open up my eyes to the things unseen/ Show me how to love like you have loved me/ Break my heart for what breaks yours/ Everything I am for your Kingdom’s cause”
Does your heart break for the things that break God’s heart? Do you care about the future of unbelievers like he cares? Are you passionate to see people being saved so none would perish but all have eternal life?
Because that’s God’ heartbeat! He doesn’t just care about the people who have committed their lives to following him, he cares about the people who don’t know him too! More than ever we need to see into the eternal as we go about our day-to-day lives. We need to get God’s perspective. We need to notice those around us who are broken and lonely and lost, and extend grace and love to them in the same way that God extends grace and love to us.
More than ever we need to not settle for the status quo that we have come to value, but to live in such a way that God’s Kingdom is really first in our lives. God’s heart is breaking for the people in our neighbourhoods and cities, for the people in our schools and places of employment.
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Can you honestly ask God to break your heart for what breaks his?
