6TH OCTOBER
Psalm 27:1-5
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. Though an army encamps against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. One thing I have asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock.”
God’s peace is most evident in difficult circumstances!
This passage oozes with the peace of God. “Whom shall I fear…my heart shall not fear…I will be confident.” But the passage is also overflowing with trouble. “Evildoers assail me…an army encamps against me…war arise against me…in the day of trouble.”
Many times the Lord’s plan for your life is not to remove you from troubling situations, but to show the world the difference he makes by giving you peace in spite of those things. How can you find peace? Trust him, and remember that he’s with you.
The peace of God is most strongly evident when the storms of life assail you. It’s that peace that makes the people around you sit up and notice and ask, “What is different about this person? I want that!”
