4TH MAY
2 Thessalonians 3:13
“As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good.”
Life can sometimes be hard, can’t it? You get home from a long day at work and just need some ‘me time’. You have a date with some friends but just feel like curling up in a dark corner and sleeping. This can be especially true for an introvert.
What happens when you are going through tough times in your life—when everything you do seems to be putting emotional energy outwards? What happens when you’re sick or have a ‘man cold’? This verse seems impossible, doesn’t it?
What happens when we are having a terrible day, and your non-Christian friend just wants to unload on you? Or you are in a rush somewhere and you feel God’s gentle prompting to ask the checkout person how they are going?
How do we keep from becoming weary of doing good – no matter what? How do we consistently put others first in all that we do?
The good news is this: God never intended for US to be able to do it, did he? Remember the Great Commission and the amazing promise at the end? “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matt 28:20)
So when you’re tired of doing good remember that the Holy Spirit is with you. Don’t rely on your strength rely on his.
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Take some time to thank the Holy Spirit that he is with you wherever you are. Hand your day over to him and commit to do good in every situation you find yourself. Ask for his strength and acknowledge that it is him working through you.
