John 12:37-38
“Though he [Jesus] had done so many signs before them, they still did not believe in him, so that the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: ‘Lord, who has believed what he heard from us, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?’”
You being a good witness does not guarantee that a person will put their faith in Christ!
Jesus was the perfect witness. He was sent by God the Father, filled with the Holy Spirit, used scripture, spoke with authority, convicted people of sin while also showing grace and love. What’s more, he did “so many signs before them”.
Yet “they still did not believe in him.” Sometimes we take too much upon ourselves. We think we are responsible for how a person responds to God. The reality is that all you can do is be a faithful witness, trusting God to work through you. In the end, that person will choose to say yes or no to God. Sometimes they will say no, even if the one who is witnessing to them is Jesus Christ himself.
Make a commitment to living the lifestyle of a witness for Jesus, regardless of whether the person you are praying for decides to trust Christ.
