1 Thessalonians 2:17-18
“But since we were torn away from you, brothers, for a short time, in person not in heart, we endeavoured the more eagerly and with great desire to see you face to face, because we wanted to come to you—I, Paul, again and again—but Satan hindered us.”
Satan is opposed to your work!
Why is it that you can sometimes find it so hard to spend time with God, or when you do sit down to read his word or spend time in prayer your mind begins to think of all the unfinished jobs you have, the phone rings, or the kids begin to argue?
Why is it that connecting relationally with non-believers can sometimes seem so difficult? Why when the opportunity comes for you to speak about Christ the conversation sometimes gets hijacked? And why does life seem to get busy and hectic when you start to make some real ground for the gospel?
It’s because you have an enemy that is out to destroy the work of God, distract you from his mission and deceive people about their need for Christ. Since the beginning, Satan has been actively opposing the authority and plans of God. So, as an ambassador for God, you face Satan’s opposition against you and the work God has for you to do.
Today you need to be aware of Satan’s opposition, but like Paul, you must not waiver from God’s mission. Remember that Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples… and behold I am with you always, to the end of the age.” If Christ is for you, who can be against you.

What are three areas you can see Satan opposing your work for God. Ask God for discernment to act wisely, strength to carry on in spite of this opposition, and faith to trust Jesus’ authority to overcome.
