30TH JANUARY
1 Kings 10-1
“Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to test him with hard questions”
You know someone greater than Solomon. God is challenging you to go deeper!
We don’t know a lot about the queen of Sheba. We don’t know her age, her background, or her religion. We do know that Sheba was where modern day Yemen is today. We know from geography that this was a wealthy kingdom, with much gold, spices, and precious woods. History also tells us that they were known to have queens as well as kings.
The trip from Sheba to Jerusalem would have been over 2000 kilometres. There is no doubt that the queen of Sheba was highly motivated to see Solomon and his kingdom. But why?
Solomon’s wisdom was known to have been out of this world and that’s why his fame spread internationally. However, the Bible says that the queen of Sheba had to see with her own eyes! She wasn’t happy with just the rumours, she had to experience Solomon’s wisdom for herself.
Jesus used the queen of Sheba as an example: “The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here”. (Matthew 12:42)
You know someone greater than Solomon. God is challenging you to go deeper. There is still so much more that he wants you to experience, to discover, to know!
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Smith Wigglesworth said, “Spiritual hunger is when nothing in the world fascinates me as much a being near to God.” Think about 5 things that truly fascinate you. Is God on that list?
