2ND JULY
Mark 1:16-18
“Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.’ And immediately they left their nets and followed him.”
God wants to refocus your life onto what he is doing in the lives of the people around you!
Like these fishermen, it’s easy to be focused on your job or on your daily activities. But while your job may be significant, it is what God wants to do through you in the lives those you work with, live with, spend time with, that gives your life real meaning.
God may want you right where you are in your profession or location, but he wants you to redefine the “main thing”. Glorify God by doing a great job in your work. Your boss should be so very glad he or she hired you! But don’t confuse your job with your purpose. Your purpose lies in the relationships of your life.
God has sent you into those relationships to be his agent of redemption—helping people encounter him, trust in him, find forgiveness and learn to follow him themselves.
MAKE IT PERSONAL:
How does God want you to “fish” today? Ask him for guidance.
