Titus 3:4-7
“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Saviour appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”
There are two ways that most people view their lives.
Some look at the way they live and feel a sense of accomplishment and confidence that they are living a good life. They have a sense of security, trusting in their good works as a means by which they are saved.
This passage reminds us that it is “not because of works done by us in righteousness” that we are saved. Others reflect on their lives and live with a sense of guilt and shame over things they have done in the past and doubt that they are ever worthy enough for God. This passage reminds us that it is through Jesus Christ alone that we have been washed clean, given his Spirit and are now his children, heirs of eternal life.
Today you need to realise that there is no amount of good you can do to earn your salvation. Jesus has paid your debt in full by dying on the cross. Likewise, nothing you have ever done can keep you from God’s love.
God wants you to remember his kindness and mercy towards you. God wants you to realise he has sent you into people’s lives that need to know this simple truth and that they, too, can only be saved when they place their trust in Jesus.

Find three passages in the Bible where God’s kindness and mercy are described. Meditate on them today.
