Matthew 7:13-14
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”
You just need to accept what God says about the way to life and salvation!
Sometimes “the narrow gate” seems too narrow. There are people we know and love who are sincere followers of another religion, or who are just nice and good people. We can’t imagine God not accepting their sincerity. But Jesus, the most loving and gracious person who ever lived, is the one who spoke the words in today’s verses. He is also the one who told us, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Jesus is reminding us today that we should approach the people in our lives with self-sacrificial love and acceptance. We should respect their right to choose their own path in life and love them whichever way they choose to live or believe. But this is different from saying that whichever way they choose is the right choice for them. We must love them enough to point them to the one who has died on the cross to make a way for them to be right with God and find his wholeness and inner healing.
