22ND NOVEMBER
Proverbs 11:17-29
“One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.” (vv. 24-25)
You will find your greatest possible blessing when you are a blessing to others!
God’s way of life often turns the world’s way of thinking on its head. The world thinks you get the most out of life by protecting and hoarding what you have and spending it on yourself. But God’s says that we gain the most by giving the most, that we live by dying to self, that we are victorious when we surrender to God.
This is not a natural way of thinking. It only makes sense to a person whose understanding is being opened up by the Holy Spirit. “Dying to self”, “the way of the cross”, “the lordship of Jesus Christ”, “a servant spirit”, “living sacrifices”, “sacrificial love” — all these expressions are different ways of describing the person who has learned this life-principle.
Today God is challenging us to get our focus off getting for ourselves and onto giving to others. He wants you to develop an attitude of giving about every encounter you have with every person you know.
MAKE IT PERSONAL
