Proverbs 24:11-12
“Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work?”
Don’t avoid the reality that those around you are facing a terrible eternity of God’s judgment—get involved in sharing Christ with them!
God has made it so plain that every person has offended his justice and his person and faces an eternity of his judgment and his anger. When Jesus’ love moved him to go to the cross for us, Jesus’ death satisfies both God’s justice and his anger. That means that when a person turns to God with faith in Jesus, their guilt and offence is removed.
But people all around us do not understand what has been done for them. They are blindly walking toward the cliff-edge. Who do you know who is like that? They need to be held back, to be warned, to be told about the love of God expressed in Jesus Christ.
MAKE IT PERSONAL:
Do you see God’s heart in today’s passage? What will he say to us who know his love if we do not share it with those that are still in danger? Ask God to give you the words they need to hear.
