Psalm 1:2
“(How blessed is the man who does not…) But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.”
To be a person whose whole life is being blessed by God, fill your heart and mind with God’s Word!
Romans 12:2 tells us that we are “transformed by the renewal of your mind.” When God’s Word begins to saturate your life, it changes the way you think about life; it affects what is important to you; your life begins to change!
Maybe you spend time in God’s Word but it’s a burden, a chore that you perform because you know you should. What could change you so that time in the Scriptures becomes a delight?
God wants you to approach the Bible as his personal communication with you! Not simply as a place to find spiritual truths, or life principles, or moral standards, or theological teaching. But as a place to meet with God.
The Apostle Paul describes the Bible as “the sword of the Spirit.” It is the Spirit of God that inspired the Scriptures and he is the One who will speak to you through them.
Turn your daily quiet time into a meeting with God. Open your Bible expecting him to speak to you personally and you’ll begin to delight in his Word. Then, more and more, the words that overflow from your heart will be God’s words to the people around you—words that bring them closer to knowing him themselves!
MAKE IT PERSONAL:
With your Bible open, ask God expectantly: “What else do you want to tell me today?” Spend some time now waiting in prayer for God to answer.
