21ST JANUARY
Romans 12:1
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”
To present your body as a living sacrifice means to choose to believe that his mercies are new every day!
“…and he shall take up the ashes to which the fire has reduced the burnt offering on the altar and put them beside the altar” (Leviticus 6:10b).
So often we think about the past… Oh, do you remember yesterday’s fire? Do you remember how good it was when God showed up yesterday and spoke to us? Do you remember how happy we were a year ago? Do you remember how God blessed us financially when we first started our business?
In Leviticus, we see God asking the priests to remove yesterday’s ashes so that it wouldn’t hinder today’s fire.
God doesn’t want you to live in the past. He doesn’t want you to eat the manna of yesterday. Stop thinking about the past blessings so much that you miss the blessings he has for you today. Be brave, focus on the present and choose to believe that his mercies are new every day!
Sometimes this can be easier said than done. Yesterday’s blessings may look better than today’s blessings. Today might be raining and the fire might not be very strong. Times like these stretch your faith.
Choose to believe today that the God who blessed you yesterday will bless you today. The God who spoke to you yesterday will speak to you today. The God who healed you yesterday will heal you today!
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Write down 10 things you are grateful for today! Text two people in your life (a Christian friend and a non-believer) and tell them that you feel blessed to know them and have them in your life.
