1ST AUGUST
1 Thessalonians 1:5
“Because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.”
People will never be saved by your good, loving, Christ-like behaviour. You must share the words of the gospel with them!
The first thing Paul says in this verse about how he shared the gospel with the Thessalonians was that he used words. Yes, your Christian life is a powerful testimony of the reality of God in your life. Your life may cause people to think, “They have something that I need.” But until you verbalise what that something is and how they can experience the love of God in their lives too, they will simply think you are a nice person.
You must share the simple, beautiful message of the gospel with the people in your life. Paul tells the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians 11 that the gospel message is simply that Christ died for our sins and he’s alive today for you to know him. You can remember a message that simple and share it easily and naturally. When you do, it’s easy to point out God’s love expressed in that message, and our need for forgiveness and restoration.
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Think through the people in your life that don’t know Jesus. Which one of them do you believe is closest to being ready to interact with you about the gospel? What could you do this week to get them one step closer to finding Jesus?
