19TH JULY
Esther 6:1
“On that night the king could not sleep. And he gave orders to bring the book of memorable deeds, the chronicles, and they were read before the king.”
Sometimes uneasiness and restlessness about things in your life come from God. God is trying to get your attention!
King Ahasuerus had an advisor, Haman, who was using the king to try and get rid of Mordecai (a godly man) and the Jews. God gave the king such an uneasiness about the situation that he couldn’t sleep, and he acted to discern what was wrong. King Ahasuerus (also known as Xerxes) had the book of records read, and there saw that Mordecai was really a hero. He set things right and Haman ended up on the gallows.
When you are distracted and not sensitive to what God needs to say to you, he may wake you up at night or give you a sense of uneasiness about what you are doing. When that happens, he wants you to make it your instant reaction to ask, “Lord, are you trying to get my attention? Is there something you need me to see? Something you want to communicate to me?”
Then stop and think about your life and what decisions you are making or have made recently. Is there anything you need to rethink or change? Is there someone that you need to forgive so that nothing blocks you from showing them the love of Jesus? Never be too embarrassed to change your mind or direction on something in response to God’s leading.

What is distracting you from focusing on God’s purpose for you and your eternal investment?
