18TH DECEMBER
Psalm 147:3
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
God wants to use you this Christmas!
For many, Christmas is not the same as the depictions in glossy advertising brochures in the sense that it’s not all laughter and presents and family time. For many, Christmas can be a very stressful time. A lot of people are not looking forward to Christmas for various reasons: loss of a loved one, relationship breakdowns, homesickness, loneliness, etc.
Today’s verse tells us that God heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. We read in the gospels that Jesus did exactly that when he was here on Earth. And now it is your job and mine to follow in Jesus’ steps.
Someone has put it this way: “Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”
It’s your job and your responsibility to be Jesus’ hands, feet and mouth this Christmas. It should be your mission to bind the wounds of the brokenhearted this Christmas. Pray and ask God to use you this Christmas to give you practical ideas of how to show his love, grace, and acceptance.
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Do you know someone who might be struggling this Christmas? Maybe a widow, or maybe a foreign student, or a single parent? How could you represent Jesus and bind up their wounds this Christmas?
