Proverbs 21:1
“The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.”
God is able to change anyone’s heart when we pray to him!
God can do that. God can turn hearts. And that’s why we should pray. We may have someone in our lives who seems unchangeable. We have done all we can but nothing works. But God shows us that even the king’s heart is in his hand to do what he wants to with it.
In 2 Timothy 2:25 (NIV), it says, “Those who oppose [God’s messenger]… he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth.”
Do you see that? We can gently instruct or teach people or witness to them, but in the end, it is God who changes them, God, who grants them repentant hearts. He uses our witnessing, but we should always remember that it is God who changes hearts; and when we pray, we are tapping into the mind and heart of God and we can ask God to do the things we can’t do.
MAKE IT PERSONAL:
Why do you think people find it so difficult to trust and accept God’s offer of salvation and grace? How can you pray?
