11TH OCTOBER
2 Corinthians 9:12-15
“For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!”
Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!
As Paul talks about the joy of giving and receiving and how God provides what we need to be generous toward others, he bursts out in this exclamation of enthusiastic thanksgiving to God for his supreme gift to us.
Paul spends a lot of time in his letters describing God’s grace, but as his heart fills up with emotion over what God has done for us in Christ Jesus, he can’t put into words what it means to him.
When we are given an amazing gift, what do we want to do? We want to share that gift with others! We say, “Look what I’ve been given!” In the same way, when we become truly aware of the gift of grace that God has given us, we cannot help but want to share that gift with others – “Look what I’ve been given by God!”
MAKE IT PERSONAL
What has God done for you? How has he helped you when you needed him the most? What prayers has he answered recently? Can you take some time to thank God for what he has done and share your testimony with one person?
