“Continue steadfastly in prayer…”
How should we pray? We should pray intently!
“Continue steadfastly in prayer,” God says. Give constant attention to prayer. Continually give yourself to prayer. Make it a non-stop part of your life. Be busily engaged in it. Pray at frequent intervals in your day.
Don’t just make it an occasional detour in your life, but make it something you do all the time. Pray when you wake up in the morning. When you get into a train full of people pray, “Lord, let me shine for you here.” When you enter your office, talk to the Lord. Say, “Lord, I am yours in this office; use me today. Speak through me to someone today. Lord, my boss is pressuring me. Help me have a peaceful character for you today.”
In conversation with someone, when you have an opportunity to speak for the Lord but don’t know what to say, pray! “Lord, put your thoughts in my mind and your words in my mouth. Lord, give me the wisdom and the courage. Lord, I’m yours. Please use me today.”
Be devoted to prayer and make it part of your whole day. Sometimes we start to lose heart in prayer because we haven’t seen the answers to our prayers as fast as we want. But don’t give up. Be constant! be devoted! “Persevere in prayer” is another translation. Keep at it.
