11TH MARCH
John 4:19-24
“The woman said to him, ‘Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.’ Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.’”
Help people understand what it really means to know Jesus personally!
Those you speak with will have no idea what it really means to be a Christian. Many of them, like the woman Jesus is speaking with, will think it just has to do with religious practices. They will think it means being a part of the ‘Christian club’ called “church”, or doing the Christian habits of giving, praying, etc.
Jesus introduces this woman to a whole new way of thinking about God. He tells her that what God wants from her is not greater religiosity, but rather reality. God wants her to worship “in spirit and truth”. God wants her to really connect with him personally, on the spiritual level. He wants it to be real.
As you talk about Christ with people, help them see past their preconceptions about Christianity to the
real, living Jesus who wants to know them on the personal level and get involved in their lives.
MAKE IT PERSONAL:
What are 3 preconceptions unsaved people around you may have about being a Christian? How you could help them see past that to the truth?
