Romans 12:1
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”
To present your body as a living sacrifice means to have impassioned desire to please and serve God!
Leviticus 6:9 says, “And the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it.” In Leviticus God was telling the priests to make sure that the fire on the altar is kept burning at all times. Why would God ask them that?
Throughout the Bible, we see that God doesn’t appreciate a cold offering. God doesn’t want us to do things for him with no passion, joy, enthusiasm and commitment.
As well as being available to do his work, God wants us to do his work with passion and we have to intentionally work at this. As William Booth said, “Tend the fire, because it is the nature of fire to go out.”
God’s Word tells us, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might!” (Ecclesiastes 9:10). Romans 12:11 tells us, “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord!”
As part of presenting our bodies as living sacrifices, God expects his children to be whole-hearted, willing workers who are filled with a desire to please and serve him!
God’s Kingdom needs on-fire, enthusiastic followers who love him more than anything or anyone else on this Earth! God wants sons and daughters who are determined and committed to follow Jesus all the way because they know they have found the TRUTH! Jesus wants disciples who are passionate about seeing people saved and taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
